| The human faces and figures so often portrayed in my work are somewhere between representation and invention. Historic and cultural effigies are filtered through my own frame of reference, altered through the course of painting to reflect my own personal reality. My imagery is culled from obscure multi-cultural and inter-generational imagery, sometimes manipulated using computer technology, with the final painting having gone through even more alteration. I am far less interested in photographic depiction, but instead wish to highlight the emotional impact through the play of color, light and drama. - Cherie Dacko |
