| Gregory has always had a love of nature and the outdoors. Growing up in rural Ohio, Greg and his brothers would spend their free time exploring the woods behind their 150-year-old farmhouse. As he grew, he would relax by walking through the woods alone. Being outdoors has always had a calming and revitalizing effect on him. In 1989, he moved to Florida and discovered the beauty of the coastal areas. As a diver he explored underwater landscapes and creatures in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida Keys and the fresh water springs. After moving to Odessa in 1998 with his fiancée, he experienced the rural lifestyle of Old Florida. He began capturing the scenic landscape. Cypress trees, Spanish moss, wetlands and clear water springs are so unique and are not usually experienced by visitors to the state. “My desire is to preserve Florida’s natural beauty in photos and in so doing, awaken others to the need to preserve this beauty before it vanishes.” Photos are created using a Nikon Digital Single Lens Reflex camera, either a D-70 or D-200. Early morning provides the best light and many of the images are made at this time. Processing is done in Photoshop and printed by a professional lab on archival paper or ink Giclee’. This fine art is framed with quality wood frames, non-acid matting and quality glass, or non-reflective museum quality material. - Gregory Colvin |
