| Art, to me, is capturing through a medium my impression of a place, person, or object & evoking my experience to the viewer. I enjoy painting many of the scenes I have enjoyed in europe from the cities of Venice, Paris, Rome, Brugges, to the islands of Ibiza, Capri, Mykonos, & Santorini. Recently I began a series of small scale, or miniature paintings for the cost conscience collector. I am also painting a series of the male form as I feel historically the female form has been well represented but the nude male has been ignored. I hope to be one the artists that changes this. BIOGRAPHY: Like most life long artists I gravitated to drawing and painting as a child. During my young years I studied painting with the New Zealand artist, Gloria Berhow. I won my first art competition in the 6th grade. In high school I created in watercolor, colored pencil, pottery, & fiber. I exhibited extensively and even had one piece accepted at the national level for the Jr Scholastic's Art Competition. At 18 I was selected as the studio assistant in the fiber department at Peters Valley Craftsmans Village. I studied art & psychology earning my associates degree at Valencia, & then completed the Interior Design program at Southern College. Through out the years i have studied art & design in Paris, Venice, Lake Como, Toronto, & most recently at Atelier Capelletes in Benarraba Spain. I have won many accolades, as well as exhibiting in juried venues. My work is displayed in public & private collections world wide. Commissions are accepted. - Jack Fowler |
