Bio: Born 1964 New York
Education: B.A. Advertising, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL 1986.
J.D. Law, Nova Southeastern University, Ft.Lauderdale, FL 1990.
I live in Tavares, FL with my wife Rachel, and children Benjamin, Zoë, and Zara, plus 2 cats, 2 Dogs, and 2 horses. I work as an Attorney and Certified Family Law Mediator. I think I’ve been an artist all my life. I starting painting and sculpting in 1984, while a student at U.S.F. I only took a few art classes, drawing, sculpture and two painting classes, just enough not to ruin me. The addiction began. I continued painting hardcore. I first began to show in 1989 the “Blue Print Group,” in the Orlando area. In 1990 I founded the “Blue Earth Society” with Eric Needle and Frederic. The group began showing in both galleries and alternative venues, and in 1994 opened our online gallery, www.blueearthsociety.com. I have continued to paint and show both with groups and individually.

Influences: Willem DeKooning, Hans Hoffman, Jean Michel Basquait, Joan Mitchell, Frank Stella, Jean Dubuffet, Chaim Soutine, Joseph Beuys, Yves Klein, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bob Marley, Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, Fluxus, Gutai, Free jazz. I try to assimilate a little bit of everything.

Artistic Concept (current evolution as of 9/6/4): I paint because I have to. I am compelled. It is the thing I need to do in order to live. Not merely on a human level, but on the next level. Art is my religious practice. It is all about the ritual to me. The ritual of creation, which connects me to God, to my higher self, to all things. As artists we do what God does, we create. Through the process we praise the whole Universe, and connect, and we are transported to painless void where time and space are of no relevance. The artistic end product is of equal importance for it is the recording of the ritual, and the embodiment of the spirit. It is the essence of the world of the unseen brought into the world of the seen. When I do this it is essential to me for work to have its own solidarity. Art should be free to exist on its own without reference to anything else. Real art does not need to represent or symbolize in order to validate itself.

The right spark, the right energy combination, is the thing that I call “wow”, it is the thing that can’t be defined, the thing that separates art from a wall hanging that occupies space. When we are in the presence of real art we are transported, time does not exist, all labels and definitions drop we are one with the artist, and one with everything in this magical Universe.
